Intro to Junk Journaling

Back by popular demand after sold-out classes at the SF Stationery Fest, this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop invites you to explore the art of junk journaling. You'll learn how to transform everyday “junk” like paper ephemera, packaging, and found materials into a personal journal that celebrates memory keeping, creativity, and storytelling. We’ll explore simple techniques for layering, gluing, and journaling with intention, while embracing imperfection and play.

Workshop schedule: The first hour will be a guided, step-by-step instruction where you’ll learn core junk journaling techniques and create your first pages. The final 30 minutes will be open journaling time to continue creating at your own pace, browse and shop The Quirky Crow’s stationery and sticker selection, and—if helpful—an optional informal Q&A.

Each attendee will receive a junk journal starter kit, including a small journal, glue stick, and a curated junk scrap pack, so you can jump right in and continue creating long after the workshop ends. Please bring your own scissors and any additional journaling materials you’d like to use.

The workshop will be held at The Quirky Crow Bookshop, a cozy and inclusive independent bookshop known for its thoughtfully curated book selection and extensive stationery and sticker collection—perfect for inspiration, browsing, and adding to your journal during the open session. Free parking is available in the lot for easy access.

This class will be taught by Bay Area content creator and lifelong junk journaler, Alexandria (@alexandria.x.g), who has built a social media following by sharing approachable, easy-to-follow junk journaling ideas that encourage everyday creativity.

Please note: Photos and video may be taken during the session for marketing and social media purposes. By attending, you acknowledge and consent to being included in workshop documentation. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform the instructor prior to the start of class.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the event are eligible for a refund, minus Eventbrite fees (which are non-refundable). If you are unable to attend within 7 days of the event, you may transfer your registration to another person—simply have them provide your name at check-in. If the session is cancelled by the instructor or event organizer, a full refund will be issued.
