Learning how to make cups will give you the knowledge and experience to open the doors to making all sorts of fun objects in the glassblowing studio. Cup making incorporates all the fundamentals needed to get to making bowls, vases and other functional objects. This workshop will work similar to our Glassblowing Date Night Workshop, but with a more hands-on touch. Our instructor will demonstrate the process and the tools to making a glass cup and then will work with each student for them to walk through all the steps to making your own glass cups.
From gathering your own molten glass, to blowing your bubbles, shaping and assisting your fellow glassblower, you get a real hands on experience into making objects with glass.
In this 3 hour workshop we will make between 2 and 3 cups per student (depending on time). The first cup we will make out of clear glass and the second (and third) will be made with your choice of colors.
If you enjoy the process of working with glass from this workshop, we encourage you to sign up for more, as practice makes perfect. We also offer an intro to glass workshop which focuses on specific techniques to make you a better glassblower.
Safety is our number 1 priority here in the glass studio, so please make sure to READ the following:
1. Dress comfortably, but do not wear any synthetic clothing. (i.e. polyester, nylon, rayon, etc.)
2. Closed toed shoes are required in the glass studio. (No open toed sandals or shoes.)
3. It gets hot in the glass studio so bring a water bottle to keep hydrated (We have free water available)
If at any point our instructor notices someone being unsafe in the studio, we reserve the right to have said person removed from the class.
