You will learn SO MUCH in this workshop that will provide a foundation to begin exploring 3D printing!
Over the course of 4 Saturday sessions (May 25-June 15) we will cover types of 3D printing and topics ranging from how a 3D print is made, software you can use to produce parts, and 3D scanning. You can expect a mix of discussion, demonstration, reviewing printed parts, and we'll have plenty of time for questions. Free, web-based software will be introduced and you'll also learn about other aspects of 3D printing like materials, production concerns, safety and waste.
No previous experience required.
When you register, please answer the question about whether you will bring your own laptop or use one of Make-It's in-house laptops.
4 classes: 12:30-2:00 pm, May 25, June 1, 8, 15
$20, includes all 4 classes and supplies.
Make-It Springfield is an accessible space. Street parking is free on the weekends.
About the instructor: Dennis Spencer has been the Digital Media Lab's 3D Print Services Supervisor at UMass Amherst since 2015. He's collaborated on projects ranging from designing and 3D modeling custom parts for equipment, accessibility solutions, historical preservation, and educational tools. He's printed tens of thousands of parts ranging from academic work, business ventures, personal exploration of the technology, and just for fun.
