About this Event

Intro to LEGO SPIKE Robotics
Ages 6–12

In Intro to LEGO SPIKE Robotics, students explore the exciting world of robotics, engineering, and coding through hands-on building and programming activities using the LEGO® Education SPIKE system. Participants will design, build, and program interactive robots while learning how engineers use technology to solve real-world problems.

Students will develop foundational skills in robotics, mechanical design, computer programming, and problem-solving by constructing motorized LEGO models equipped with sensors, motors, and smart hubs. Through engaging challenges and creative projects, participants will learn how robots move, sense their environment, and respond to commands through coding.

Throughout the workshop, students will explore the engineering design process, practice teamwork and collaboration, and build confidence in STEM while having fun creating their own robotic inventions.

What Students Will Learn

  • Introduction to robotics and engineering concepts
  • Building robots using LEGO SPIKE components
  • Understanding motors, sensors, and smart hubs
  • Basic coding and programming logic
  • Sequencing, loops, and simple automation
  • Problem-solving through robotics challenges
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and improving designs
  • Mechanical design and construction skills
  • Teamwork and collaborative learning
  • Creative thinking and innovation

Final Project
Students will design, build, and program their own LEGO SPIKE robot to complete a series of interactive challenges, demonstrating their understanding of robotics, coding, and engineering principles.
