An aircraft carrier parked on the Hudson River has been converted into a museum of sea, air and space travel. The ticket grants access to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, the only one in New York City and one of the few in the world housed on an aircraft carrier. There's much more to see on the western side of New York City on the legendary USS Intrepid. You get up close to the first space shuttle (the “Enterprise”) and explore a guided-missile submarine (the USS “Growler”). They're connected to history and innovation through interactive exhibits and first-hand accounts - something the whole family can enjoy. More than just a museum. See the Intrepid aircraft carrier, the Space Shuttle Pavilion, the Growler submarine, and watch an 8-minute film called "The Story of Intrepid" as well as a 15-minute film titled "Kamikaze: Day of Darkness, Day of Light." First launched in 1943, the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid fought in World War II and survived five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo attack. The ship later served in the Cold War and the Vietnam War. Intrepid also served as a NASA recovery ship in the 1960s. It was decommissioned in 1974 and is now the centerpiece of the Sea, Air and Space Museum on the Hudson River.
