Join us for an evening celebrating the Spring Equinox with long form storytelling and music, showcasing fairytales from Welsh, Jewish, French, and Scottish traditions. Nate Nate Nainers and Naomi Steinberg will share the stage with four 15 minute stories, while Martin Reisle responds to each piece with improvisational cello.Introducing the artists:
Nate Nate Nainers
Nainers is an award-winning storyteller, poet, and performance artist who has competed at the 2024 Vancouver Story Slam Championship at the Vogue Theatre, and has performed at places such as Massey Art Gallery and Parade of Lost Souls. Nainers’ work is a celebration of Neurodiversity and Queerness, and seeks to build bridges between these realities and those
who don’t understand.
Naomi Steinberg
Artist and storyteller Naomi Steinberg has 25 years experience performing traditional folk and fairytales with diverse communities in contexts such as schools, theatres, forests, festivals and conferences. www.naomisteinberg.ca
Naomi is currently preparing a Canadian tour to promote their self-published book (2020), Goosefeather (goosefeather.ca), which recounts their journey of 382 days and 55,965 kilometers around the globe, by land and sea
Martin Reisle
Pronounced (rise-lay), Martin “sings with boisterous, throaty chirps and creaky rattles”. A multi-disciplinary artist trying always to catch up with themselves. Their emergent loves of textile and natural pigments nest and intermingle comfortably with their longstanding musical and calligraphic pursuits. When not hosting outdoor community sing-alongs, they are likely to be mending tattered hearts with cello, or guitar, or strings.
