For 15 years David Shelton has attended the Gay Men’s Figure Drawing Group, conducted by artist Tyler Alpern at his log cabin home above Boulder. Artists meet once or twice a month and draw figures from life. Dave concentrates on doing portraits. The initial drawings are done in Conte crayon on large sketch paper from twenty-minute poses. The favorites are transferred to canvas and painted in oils. Intimate Expressions comprises thirteen of these paintings and eleven of the original drawings.
