About this Event
Interwoven: Shaping a Warrior’s Home
Special Operations Forces Families are invited to join The Station Foundation for a curated program to enhance quality conversation, cultivate deeper connection, and teach character strengths through The Station’s first Family Book Club. Participating families will read and discuss a daily chapter of Chop Wood, Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf for a month. Chop Wood, Carry Water is a powerful story about the lessons and wisdom learned through a boy’s journey to achieve his lifelong goal of becoming a samurai warrior. Together, families will learn:
How the process of achieving greatness involves persistence and hard work
The importance of gratitude
Why is the process more important than the goal
Why comparison is the thief of all joy
How to develop mental toughness
Impactful curriculum, written by The Station staff, will guide families with meaningful questions and discussion prompts. This program has been specifically written to support the busy lives of SOF families; therefore, we ask families to dedicate 15 minutes a day to complete a daily reading and discussion assignment.
Families who complete the Book Club assignments will celebrate their accomplishments together at Top Golf on October 29. Families can connect over lighthearted competition while enjoying food and drinks on-site, making it a complete outing without the need for additional planning. With everything provided, from clubs to game setup, families can simply focus on spending quality time together, creating lasting memories through recreation, connection, and laughter.
