About this Event
Welcome to Intersections | Cross-sections Conference 2026!
The Intersections | Cross-Sections Conference is an interdisciplinary conference and arts exhibition organized by and for graduate student scholars, artists and activists through the organizing efforts of the Communication & Culture Graduate Students Association (GSA). This year's conference will take place on March 13, 2026 at the TMU Catalyst in the Rogers Communication Centre. This is a hybrid event with the opportunity for online attendance.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Currents of Change: Media, Activism, and Cultural Transitions," which encourages submissions that delve into how any given form of media may play a role in enacting change at levels cosmic, microscopic, and everywhere in between. Submissions may trace the currents of change as they manifest in our pasts, presents, and potential futures. The event features two interconnected components: Intersections, the academic conference with panels and roundtables, and Cross-Sections, the accompanying art exhibition showcasing practice-based, experimental, and media-oriented work. Together, these spaces blur the boundaries between research and creation, theory and practice.
This year's conference will feature a keynote address from Dr. Eliza Chandler, associate professor in the School of Disability Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Breakfast, lunch, and light refreshments will be provided.
IS|CS values diverse perspectives and aims to provide an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming space for all participants to engage in cross-disciplinary discussions and the creative exhibition. We are also committed to accommodating any accessibility needs. If you have any questions about the conference theme, format, or accessibility, please contact us at [email protected] by March 6.
