A wind ensemble is a group of individuals who work together to create a singular vision. This sometimes has the effect of obscuring the artistry of each performer. In this concert, Gareth Jones and the players of the Alberta Winds perform a program that puts a spotlight on the intriguing interplay between each person performing together. Soloist versus Ensemble—Cooperation versus conflict—background versus foreground: The intriguing balance between these elements underpins every great performance.
We put three members front and centre in virtuosic pieces for soloist and ensemble.
