What is internet safety? It refers to the practices, tools, and precautions we use to protect our personal information, devices, and well-being while using the internet. In this class, Kim Lin will teach you how to protect yourself against cyber threats and attacks like malware and phishing. You will learn the essential steps you can take to take control of your safety while browsing and using the internet, ensuring you are safeguarding your personal data and practicing responsible online behavior.

Internet safety is the practice of protecting your personal information, devices, and well-being while online. As we spend more time browsing, it is important to understand how to defend against cyber threats and attacks.
In this session, Kim Lin will cover:
- Phishing and Malware: Learn what these threats are and how they work.
- Data Safeguarding: Steps you can take to stay in control of your personal data.

About the Instructor
Kimberly Lin is currently a Library Intern at Laney College and recently served as a Library Intern at the Mechanics’ Institute this past fall. Kim is pursuing her Master’s in Library and Information Science at San Jose State University. She holds an Associate’s degree in Library Information Technology from City College of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education from San Francisco State University.
