We will enjoy a delicious catered meal, following appis and a cash bar. Reserve today! No one turned away for lack of funds.International Women’s Day (IWD), March 8th, was established 115 years ago and celebrated around the world. IWD represents and celebrates the fight of women to eliminate all forms of discrimination, oppression and violence, and to decide all matters which affect our lives, including matters of war and peace.
We celebrate the central role which women have played in all the decisive struggles of the day. We celebrate all the women in Canada and the world who are fighting for their rights, their dignity, and a future where all human beings can thrive. We celebrate that the oligarchs and the governments which serve them have failed in their aim to crush the
resistance movements everyone. Resistance rising!
Women have played a leading role this year in battles for their rights as workers, for health care and education, for housing and food security, and everything needed for women and all humans to live in dignity and security. Speakers from the different sectors of the economy and society will inform to us about their work, their difficulties and successes, and what they have learned in the course of their struggles as to what is needed to strengthen our resistance movement. We will hear from women fighting for their rights as workers, for the rights of migrant workers, refugees and international students, for Indigenous rights, for the rights of the Palestinian people, climate activists and more.
Around the world extreme violence is being used to try and bring to their knees all who are fighting for freedom, genuine democracy and peace and the right to follow their own independent course. State-organized attacks are taking place against the migrant workers, refugees and international students who came to Canada with promises of a bright future and are now being blamed for all the problems of society.
We stand with the women and people of Cuba, of Palestine, of Venezuela, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran, and all who are fighting the U.S. imperialist monster and say we are all one - one struggle, one humanity!
We look forward to hearing everyone's views and sharing a delicious meal together! Hosted by Women for Rights and Empowerment. Our annual IWD banquet has become a treasured event where we inform each other, celebrate our resistance, strengthen our commitment to be there for each other, and affirm our claims as women to decide all matters which affect our lives.
