About this Event
International Protection in the Context of the Climate Crisis: Legal Strategies for UK Practice and Policy
Refugee Legal Support, in partnership with Earth Refuge and DLA Piper, are hosting a half-day practical, solutions-focused conference focusing on the protection of people displaced in the context of the climate crisis.
We’ll focus on:
- Strengthening the legal rights of people displaced due to climate change
- Turning academic insights into real-world solutions
- Ensuring that protection is guaranteed as a right, not dependent on goodwill or politics
The event is supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Doughty Street Chambers, ILPA - Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, Refugee Law Initiative and the Climate and Migration Coalition.
Panel topics include:
- Key concepts at the asylum/climate crisis intersection;
- Climate change and international human rights claims;
- A focus shift in evidencing a claim taking into account the climate crisis;
- Climate and Migrant Justice - Policy Intersections;
- UK Climate Change-informed immigration practice; and
- An interactive demonstration of the Climate Mobility Case Database for enhancing climate change displacement claims
