International Laureates Organ Series: CLIVE DRISKILL-SMITH

We invite you to experience great organ music played on the David John Falconer Memorial Organ (originally built in 1911 for St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Los Angeles, by Murray M. Harris). Comprising over 5,000 pipes in total, the organ is an important part of Los Angeles musical history and takes its place among the country’s most important and magnificent instruments.

For the past twenty-six years we have been honored to host many of the most distinguished organists from throughout the world. Tonight we present Clive Driskill-Smith as our guest artist for this concert. British organist Clive Driskill-Smith has taken the classical music world by storm, enthralling audiences from Beijing to Boston to Budapest with his extraordinary playing and fearless programming. Critics have praised his “blazing technique and unbelievable virtuosity” (Chiff Chat, American Guild of Organists) and described his performances as “intensely moving and truly breathtaking” (Organo Pleno, Australia).

These recitals are offered as a gift to the community free of charge, and we are grateful to the Ahmanson Foundation, the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and our Friends of Great Music at Saint James for their continuing support.

IF DRIVING SOUTH ON ST. ANDREWS TOWARD WILSHIRE: Turn left on Wilshire, then an immediate right onto St. Andrew’s Place; Turn right on Ingraham; Turn right into 4th driveway and wait for attendant to open gate. Park anywhere.This is a rear entrance labeled “Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles.”
