Detroit, MI - March 31, 2024 - WJZZ Jazz Radio, in partnership with The Preservation of Jazz, is thrilled to announce a special event celebrating International Jazz Day on May 1st, 2024, at The Aretha's Jazz Cafe in Detroit. This event promises an enchanting evening filled with "All things Jazz" to honor the rich cultural heritage and global significance of jazz music.
The festivities will commence at 6:00 PM with the inaugural Annual Jazz Photoshoot, inviting photographers from Metro Detroit to capture the essence and energy of jazz artists in action. This unique opportunity will allow photographers to showcase their talents while preserving the visual legacy of jazz.
In a gesture of camaraderie and unity within the jazz community, we extend a warm invitation to all jazz musicians, vocalists, and enthusiasts to participate in the photoshoot alongside their peers. Simply RSVP with your best jazz attire to represent with your colleagues and capture the spirit of collaboration and creativity that defines jazz.
At 7:00 PM, the main event will kick off with a captivating jazz concert featuring the sensational Sky Covington. Covington's soulful performances promise to mesmerize the audience and evoke the timeless spirit of jazz.
International Jazz Day, officially designated by UNESCO on April 30th, is a testament to the power of jazz in fostering intercultural dialogue, promoting peace, and celebrating diversity.
