This year, NHCDC will proudly host our 2nd Annual International Day of Peace Celebration to remember, recognize and celebrate the North Hill community’s individual and collective efforts at ending racism and building peace. This annual worldwide event designated by the United Nations is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. As you may recall, in 2021, the NHCDC, with the leadership of Trish Ostroski, led the effort to have North Hill officially recognized as an International City of Peace by the International Cities of Peace Association.
In addition to providing great local food, drinks, music, and tours of NHCDC’s properties, this open community event will also honor several North Hill community members with the NHCDC’s True North Awards. These awards are presented to individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations whose commitment to the ideals of peace, social justice, community building and cohesion, and economic development have had a positive and consistent impact on North Hill. Recipients are those who lead by example, putting values into action, with integrity and an abiding commitment to peace and community.
