About this Event
Announcing our 4th Annual Afro Mujeres Fest in LA on July 28th with a special feature! This event unites Black women from across the diaspora for a day of culture, celebration, and healing in Leimert Park/South LA. Experience the rich tapestry of Afro culture with performances, workshops, wellness gifts, panels and more. This years festival has a special theme and production:
"QUEEN CALIFIA LIVES!"
This creative production tells the story/legend of Califia, the African Warrior Queen who California is named after. Through a workshop series, we will co-create and write this empowering story to perform on July 28th. Black women will weave together live music, dance, poetry, and drumming to tell the story. “Queen Califia Lives!” is a community and healing arts project to amplify the creativity and resilience of Black women. Project directed by Nikki Campbell of Puentes de Poder.
