Intermediate Woodturning: Pens

This class is designed for participants who have completed our Intro to Woodturning course or have prior woodturning experience.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create a beautifully finished, functional pen from Indian rosewood. We’ll review essential woodturning techniques and focus specifically on the tools and processes used in pen making. Participants will learn how to properly prepare pen blanks, mount and turn them on the lathe, and sand and finish for a smooth, professional result.

Using a Trimline pen kit from Penne State Industries, you’ll assemble and complete your pen from start to finish. By the end of class, you’ll leave with a handcrafted pen—and the skills and confidence to continue exploring small-scale turning projects on your own.
