Gain skills and confidence creating forms and scenes with lines! Intermediate-level.
3-week course: Sundays, March 10 - March 24. Ages 15+.
Registration is $60. Attendees must register through this link: https://www.catalystartscollaborative.com/service-page/interm-line-drawing-3-10-3-24-5-30p
After learning about historical and contemporary use of lines in art, you'll practice exercises to help you gain confidence with techniques and skills like line spacing, hatching/crosshatching, and contour lines. Building on a basic understanding of foundational drawing skills, Willow will teach you how to create the illusion of light and shadow to show form and depth.
Ultimately, you'll gain skills that will translate to the art of still life drawing, and representing a scene. In addition to valuable experience, you'll leave the Cat with a finished drawing, completed in stages over the course of 3 sessions!
While all supplies are included, you're welcome to bring a sketchbook/sketch paper and writing utensil of your choice!
Optional:
- Layered clothing, as the temperatures may fluctuate in our building
- Water/beverage with lid

Willow Wells is a talented and thoughtful artist from New England who infuses traditional mediums like oil painting and printmaking with beautiful, unexpected, and surreal themes. Willow earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Florida. She was also Surel’s Place’s October/November 2023 Artist-in-Residence, and will be starting another artist residency this spring!
In her art, Willow infuses traditional mediums like oil painting and printmaking with beautiful, unexpected themes of metamorphosis between humans and nature, resulting in a truly unique brand of surrealism. (Check out the photos down below to see some examples!)
Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
