Description: With Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge covering over 14,000 acres, there are more than 45 miles of trails to discover! Join us for our Intermediate Hiking series as we explore the trails together. This program builds from the Intro to Hiking Series, and involves hiking further distances at a faster pace than the Intro programs. No special equipment required.
Registration: 10 walk in spots available and 15 spots open for voluntary registration through https://signup.com/go/gPPrWjW.
Activity Level: Active, we will attempt to maintain a pace around 3 miles per hour with few stops.
Meet Us: Meet us at the Wilkie Blue Lake Trailhead (7191 County Road 101 E, Shakopee, MN 55379).
What to Bring: Good walking shoes, water, and bug spray/sunscreen if you have it. Monitor weather forecast and be prepared for the temperature and precipitation. A cancellation notice will be sent via email to registered participants in the event of severe weather. If you are not registered, please monitor our website, SignUp, or MeetUp page.
Accessibility: Restrooms and drinking water are not available at this trailhead, so please come prepared. This natural-surface trail is mostly flat, and we will hike about 4.5 miles in a span of 1.5 hours, maintaining a 3 mph pace. Parking is limited at this trailhead, and we recommend carpooling.
Accommodation: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is committed to providing access to these events for all participants. Please direct all requests for sign language interpreting services, close captioning, or other accommodation needs at least ten business days before the event to Oscar Hernandez at [email protected].
