About this Event
Gaffer, Kugler, Reichenbach. Hard colors and soft colors. Transparent and opaque…….. Color can bring a whole different dimension to glass, but if new to the process of glassblowing, it can be somewhat overwhelming. This class will focus on color application and look to demystify the process. We will explore the properties of color and understand how they work together with blown forms. We will seek to simplify the process, from applying color bar to pulling cane. In addition to gaining new perspective on color, students will continue to reinforce and improve on their previous glass blowing skills.
What to Expect: Students will work together and learn to manipulate molten glass (2000 degrees). Safety, color application, and tools will all be covered in a fun and exciting environment. The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: This is for intermediate level students, previous glassblowing skills required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
