Intermediate Civilian Responder is an 8-hour course developed by Frontline Response to build on the basics taught in the Basic Civilian Responder course. Going beyond the 20-minute wait time for an ambulance, this course is designed for providing more prolonged care, often due to distances in rural environments and in the wilderness.
If you want to build on the basic skills to move to the next step in your patient care, this is the class for you and your friends and family. Students must have either taken the Basic Civilian Responder or a comparable course prior to attending this course. Much of it will cover how to dive deeper into the “ARC” portion of the SMARCH algorithm covered in Basic Civilian Responder.
This class will teach you how to utilize all of the equipment in the Civilian Responder kit we sell, which was specifically designed for EMTs and other well-trained civilians.

- Intermediate patient assessment/evaluation
- Vital signs
- Prolonged patient extraction
- Improvised transportation methods
(Foot, vehicle, and helicopter evacuation)
- Airway adjuncts
- Rescue breathing
- Practice simulations
