As part of the STAB horror film fest at Cultplex, Interference Films is proud to present Pascal Laugier's MARTYRS (2008) on the big screen! When the idea of Interference was in its infancy, Martyrs has sat atop the 'must screen' list since the very beginning. The French/Canadian movie is renowned for it's intense and disturbing nature combined with deep, psychological questioning and shocking plotline twists...this one has it all! The levels of dread, violence and disturbing content has landed Martyrs on pretty much every 'Extreme' movie list there is, as well as being one of the key pieces of cinema that brought the term 'New French Extremity' into the modern lexicon. A film that absolutely has to be seen to be believed - come join us if you dare!!
Alongside the film we will of course be playing music beforehand - this time around we plan a special mix of dark ambient and unsettling industrial soundscapes to ramp the dread up to 11 before the nights proceedings!
And lastly we will have the Interference Films stall selling a choice selection of hard to find/boutique Blu Rays and soundtracks on CD and Vinyl! The stall proved popular at our inaugural event - thank you so much for the support!

MARTYRS (2008) SYNOPSIS:
Fifteen years after a horrifying experience of abduction and prolonged torture, Lucie embarks on a bloody quest for revenge against her oppressors. Along with her childhood friend, Anna, who also suffered abuse, she quickly descends, without hope, into madness and her own delusions. Anna, left on her own begins to re-experience what Lucie did when she was only twelve years old.
