About this Event
Unless you’ve been lucky enough to live without access to the news for the past 13 months, you know that we live in highly divisive times. With current events in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and beyond, there’s been a sharp rise in Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism around the globe, with no clear end in sight.
Regardless of which side of the issue people stand, those with opinions are passionate about their convictions, and it seems like many have moved past any interest in a dialogue with those with different views. We get that.
Thank God for comedy. Grassroots Comedy is teaming up with Interfaith Comedy to bring you the Interfaith Comedy Show for Palestinian Relief, which aims to use laughter to share experiences and perspectives from comedians across religious backgrounds in a common plea for relief and unity as human beings. Headlined by Ahamed Weinberg (The Late Show w/ Stephen Colbert, Hulu, HBO, and so much more) and featuring comedians Yasmin Elhady (NBC, Kennedy Center), Nikkie Knowles (Magooby's Joke House Comedian of the Year), Carmiya Weinraub (Interfaith Comedy), Mudit Verma (Laugh Factory), and hosted by Max Wolfson (Midnight Gardners League). This show will feature standup comedy followed by a Q&A panel, with a portion of proceeds going to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
So grab your friends, take some of the edge off from the news, and have a laugh with some funny humans across religious and cultural divides while donating to a dire cause. Comedy will not fix current events – but it can certainly help.
This show is funded by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
