In August 2020, the greater Washington cycling community lost one of it's most beloved members, the larger-than-life Pete Beers. Since that time, there has been a great a desire expressed among many in the community to dedicate an appropriate memorial to him. One idea that has a lot of support is naming the bridge over VA Route 29/Langston Blvd that carries the W&OD trail for him. This bridge is very close to where Pete worked as bike mechanic.
This meeting is meant to update interested members of the public about efforts to date to do this, what steps remain in the process, and outline the various stakeholders who may need to be contacted to build support for this initiative.
Arlington County Board Member Takis Karantonis has been invited and says he will attend.
