Inter-Tribal Council of California, Inc is hosting its first annual Sexual Assault Prevention Conference. ITCC serves the largest consortium of Tribes in the United States, with Tribes in over 40 counties across the state of California receiving domestic violence, sexual assault, and other emergency services. ITCC was founded in 1968 to promote the economic, educational, cultural, legal, and social status of Indians in California. We at ITCC would be honored to have representatives from your organization attend our upcoming event.

The 2023 Sexual Assault Prevention Conference is coming to the Holiday Inn Sacramento Downtown - Arena, and we want to invite our local policy makers and law enforcement officials to attend. This two-day conference will bring together key community leaders to address the issue of sexual assault in Native American communities. Join us on Thursday, June 15th and Friday, June 16th for two days of informative and thought-provoking discussions on how we can work together to prevent sexual assault and create a safer environment for everyone.

The goal of this conference is to raise awareness of the prevalence and impact of sexual assault in Indian Country while strengthening multidisciplinary response. We would like to invite Tribal, State, and local governments, Tribal programs, law enforcement officers, direct service providers, rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters, sex trafficking programs, researchers, advocates, and other key decision-makers in the community to attend.

Scheduled topics include: Recent Amendments to the Violence Against Women Act; The Importance of a Culturally-Sound & Victim Centered Approach; Addressing Vicarious Trauma in Your Organization; Sexual Violence Against Native Men; The Intersection of Sexual Assault, Sex Trafficking, and MMIW; Protecting Children from Internet Facilitated Sex Crimes; and Access to Victim Compensation Benefits for Native Survivors of Crime. Keynote Speakers include Retired Police Detective and Director of Investigative Support For The Center for Human Identification- Mark Pooley, Tribal Circuit Judge- Joseph Wiseman, Tribal Law & Policy Scholar- Sarah Deer, Former Director of the Attorney General's Office of Native American Affairs- Olin Jones, and the Director of Minnesota Indian Women's Sexual Assault Center- Nicole Mathews.
