About this Event
The University of Montevallo's Annual Advocacy Day Conference is sponsored by the Social Work Program, the Dr. Jeanine Cannon Bozeman Foundation, and the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Advocacy Day is designed to elevate and integrate practice skills when working with individuals and their families while providing continuing education for social workers, child welfare workers, mental health professionals, and counselors.
We are excited to bring international, national, and regionally recognized speakers to provide training and continuing education.
Blair and Alana Kaplan, founders of the Global Resilience Project will provide skills-training, practice tools, and resources to assist in helping others navigate adversity during life's unpredictable challenges.
Dr. Jay Miller, founder of the self-care lab, will discuss professional self-care and resiliency for children in the child welfare system of care.
Maribeth P. Bowman, Director of Program Services - (ANCAC) will focus on best practices in assessment and interviewing and how to natigate high-stakes situations.
