The theme of this conference is 'Passing the Torch: Becoming an Expert'
This conference is open to all Postgraduate Researchers and Academic staff within the IHN at Aston Universtiy and provides a valuable opportunity to present your research in a supportive environment whilst receiving feedback and engagign with a research community who work in a similar field.
Dear IHN Postgraduate Researchers,
We are pleased to announce that the 4th Annual IHN Conference will take place on Friday 12th June 2026, in Students' Union Hall 2. This event is now open to abstract submissions from all IHN Postgraduate Researchers at Aston University.
This conference is open to all Postgraduate Researchers and Academic staff within the IHN at Aston University and provides a valuable opportunity to present your research in a supportive environment whilst receiving feedback and engaging with a research community who work in a similar field.
The theme of this conference is ‘Passing the Torch: Becoming an Expert’
To submit an abstract, please read the instructions below:
If you would like to submit an abstract for a 5-minute lightning talk, a 15-minute talk or a digital/in person poster, please specify this in an email and with your abstract and email [email protected]
Abstract Guidelines:
Please write an abstract which showcases the theme ‘Passing the Torch: Becoming an Expert’. Your abstract should include the following details:
Please write your abstract in clear, accessible language that can be understood across all disciplines within the IHN. Submissions will undergo anonymous peer review and will be assessed based on the following criteria:
- How your supervisors have used their expertise to influence your research
- How you have shaped your own research from these foundations
- How you have developed your research and become an expert in the field
- Your hopes for the future direction of your research
Review Process:
- Title - is it a compelling and accessible title that captures the interest of non-experts?
- Abstract - Is the abstract accessible, clear, concise, whilst providing a good summary of the required points
- Word count usage - How well has the abstract used the maximum word count of 200 words to meet the theme: ‘Passing the Torch: Becoming an Expert.
Submission Deadline: Tuesday 26th May 2026.
Confirmation: We aim to confirm and provide confirmation of your allocated presentation forms by Friday 29th May 2026, following your submission.
Please note: that we only have a limited number of slots for each presentation option. If you do not meet the criteria stated above, we will offer you the opportunity to present a poster, unless you have explicitly indicated otherwise.
