All are welcome to attend this eucharistic service which will include the liturgy for the institution of a rector. The institution of the Rev. Elmer S. Miguel as the tenth rector of Church of the Good Shepherd is a traditional service from the Book of Common Prayer 2019. Fr. Elmer is presented to the Bishop by the Church Wardens, the Letter of Institution is read by Bishop Emeritus Jack Iker, Fr. Elmer publicly makes a commitment to this new trust and responsibility, and the congregation pledges to support and uphold his ministry.
The congregation and staff then present Fr. Elmer with symbols of his office, including a Bible, bread and wine, the prayer book, the catechism, keys to the building, and a vessel of water.
