About this Event
The World Affairs Council of Western Massachusetts will present Nazifa Hassan Safie and Safieullah Safie on The Refugee Experience in Western Massachusetts: An Update on Wednesday, March 26th at noon at 1350 Main Street 9th Floor Gallery in downtown Springfield.
In August of 2021 Nazifa Hassan Safie and Safieullah Safie--due to their involvement in humanitarian activities and with United States agencies, as well as the brutal assassination of Nazifa's father--were forced to evacuate from their home in Afghanistan. They ultimately settled in Western Massachusetts. In April 2022 they spoke to the World Affairs Council about their story and will be providing us with an update on their situation in March. Both are now working for Save the Children.
For those who purchase a meal, box lunches with a choice of sandwich--turkey, tuna, roast beef, vegetarian--will be available (first come, first served). Lunches also include deli salad, a cookie, chips, and soda or water. We are also offering a halal option--chicken kafta kabab wrap. (Attendees may bring their own lunch or choose not to eat.)
Registration deadline for a lunch provided is Friday, March 21.
