Inspiring Writers: Planning, Sentences & Paragraphs

Join us for an immersive workshop series focused on exploring our beliefs as writers and educators and refining our approach to teaching writing. Through interactive sessions, a book study, and practical activities, participants will gain valuable insights and strategies to enhance writing instruction in their classrooms and districts.

Workshop Sessions:

1.     Understanding Writing Beliefs:

• Reflect on personal beliefs about writing as both writers and teachers.   
• Discuss the importance of teaching writing and its impact on student engagement and
  achievement.

2.     Effective Writing Instruction:

• Explore various teaching methodologies and approaches for teaching writing.
• Identify successful practices and strategies that work well in our classrooms.

3.     Vision for Writing:

• Define a collective vision for writing instruction in our district, guided by research
  and best practices.
• Discuss the purpose of writing instruction and strategies to increase student
  engagement and motivation.

4.     Book Study - The Writing Revolution:

• Dive into Chapters 1 and 2, focusing on sentence structure and the fundamentals
  of writing.
• Engage with Chapters 3 and 4, focusing on planning and paragraph development.
• Explore how to incorporate the principles outlined in the book into our teaching
  practices.

5.     Content Area Writing Tasks:

• Develop writing tasks for content areas using sentences and paragraphs.
• Create a pacing guide with grammar exercises to support writing instruction across
  subjects.

Pay via Invoice

If you need to pay for your registration via invoice, you may do so by selecting your ticket and then choosing the invoice option at check out.

Cancellation Policy - Cancellations made before the payment settles (usually within 24 hours) will be 100% refunded. Cancellations made 7 calendar days or more in advance of the event date, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days of the event will receive a 75% refund.

Please note this event will be held in person. In the case of unforeseen circumstances (such as inclement weather or situations beyond our control), alternative arrangements will be considered. Thank you for your understanding and enthusiasm for our commitment to in-person engagement.
