About this Event

Federal and state government agencies have extraordinary capacity to deliver impactful services when steered by determined and agile leaders. Hear from three UC Berkeley Executive Fellows in Applied Technology Policy about their experiences driving innovative change within large bureaucracies and ensuring responsible development of digital services and their adoption by people across California and the country.

Panelists:

  • Marcela Escobar-Alava, UCB Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy, and former Chief Information Officer, Social Security Administration;
  • Merici Vinton, UCB Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy, and former U.S. Digital Service, White House and Senior Advisor to the Commissioner, Internal Revenue Service;
  • Vera Zakem (moderator), UCB Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy and State Chief Technology Innovation Officer, State of California; former Chief Digital Democracy and Rights Officer, USAID
