Featured artists...
Tea
Cheretta Stewart aka Tea is a poet from BedStuy. With words steeped in emotion, Tea’s intentions are to open your mind by taking small moments in time inviting us to see them in a more robust and meaningful way. Tea began writing poetry to make sense of her world and expand not only her perspective, but that of others. Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison are just a couple of her literary influences. She also finds inspiration spending time out in Nature and finds joy in delving deeper into the mysteries of physics. Performing barefoot, she remains grounded in the present as she performs her art.
Izzy Corwin
Izzy Corwin is a Bushwick based poet, writer, musician, performance artist, and otherwise multi-hyphenate. With influences ranging from Danielewski to Tolkien, her writing is equally varied, falling anywhere between stream of consciousness panic-horror to contemplative existentialism, and some works even composed in her fictional constructed language, ivhalkaral.
Justin Graves
Justin Graves is an African American and Puerto Rican poet, novelist, and musician born and raised in New York City. His poetry is a reflection of his urban upbringing in Bushwick, a historic neighborhood in the city’s borough of Brooklyn. His pieces range from philosophical meditations inspired by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius to free-verse on mental illness and politics inspired by fellow NYC native, James Baldwin.
Izzie Zuniga
Izzie Zuniga is a Park Slope-based poet who writes narrative works inspired by her sense of belonging and non-belonging. This is her third feature with Inspired Word and second Poetry Hour feature. She has also featured with Spoken Wordz Entertainment, The Estia Variety Show, Bridgeport, Connecticut's Groundwork initiative, and will begin studying poetry as a Creative Writing MFA candidate at Columbia University this fall. Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Izzie has made New York her home over the last ten years and has a sizable collection of street-salvaged furniture to prove it.
RinaVana
Sarina Vanacore, known as RinaVana, is a multi-disciplined artist born and raised in New York, currently living in Greenpoint. Educated in fine art, illustration and English writing, and inspired by surrealism, experimentalism and the spirit world, she aims to capture the honest spark of the human experience.
