Bio:
Nowhere Girls is a 5-piece noise-pop garage rock band that started in Houston and moved to NYC, the stomping grounds of more than half the bands they call their “sonic tutors of resplendent organized chaos."
Leaning on the hallowed gallows of the trademark cacophony of NYC bands such as Sonic Youth, the Strokes, the Yeahs (x3), Jonathan Fire Eater, and the Velvets; the yearning self-deprecation of acts like Mitski and Japanese Breakfast; all the well meaning smarm (and snarling guitars) of bands such as Girls at Our Best!, Buzzcocks, and Lush; the stripped-down pop sensibilities of K Records/Sarah Records contemporaries like Beat Happening and Heavenly; and that DIY lo-fi rock n roll goodness you love so much of Guided by Voices, Sharp Pins, Manhattan Love Suicides, Ribbon Stage, thanks for coming, Dwaal Troupe, Horsegirl, etc. etc. etc., whatever, it’s only everything, it’s really nothing, and really, you should probably know by now.
Nowhere Girls rears its snarling lil’, blues-drenched, undying heads when it comes to hallmark factors such as “sound” and “attitude.”
You may have heard them on record, but you’ve got to see them LIVE! it’s the only way to witness the way they writhe and crash to the ground with all their pent up angst and anti-glory that only the most fascist of presidential U.S. regimes could conjure up.
