Bio:
Matthew James Hemmer is a Korean American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Matthew experimented with piano and viola from a young age. In middle school he started writing original music on the piano, and then in high school began teaching himself music and video production. Graduating as a songwriting major from Berklee College of Music (2017-2020), he has continued to build his artistry since then. Inspired by other electropop/indie acts like Jeremy Zucker, blackbear, and EDEN, he made his debut in June 2018 with the release of his first album, “Break Me Down”.
MJH aims to create unique songs that share his personal perspective on life and the world. Honest, dedicated lyricism, pop sensibility, and hiphop/rnb influences combine with intense, varied production and unpredictable vocals to bring together a unique experience. After seven studio albums and a multitude of singles, Matthew continues to cross genres and experiment, quickly establishing a signature sound that brings a wide range of unpredictable elements together seamlessly. Currently based in New York City, his most recent album, “BTRL8THNVR PT II: DRAIN” was released July of 2024. More music on the way.
