Interested in fashion design? Dive into the art of hand sewing and embroidery in this exciting maker workshop. Experiment, design, create and show off your very own handmade clothing item or accessory—all materials, including needles, fabric, thread and beads will be provided. Whether you're dreaming up a statement accessory—like a personalized tote—or crafting a one-of-a-kind stylish shawl, this workshop gives you the freedom to experiment, play and create something uniquely yours.
This workshop also provides the opportunity to view engaging reproductions from the enormous WisHistory clothing collection, as well as preview newly designed pieces created for the Inspired! Historic Fashions & the Emerging Designers They Influenced event, also in August.
Inspired! Stitch Your Style Fashion Workshop is designed for participants ages 13+. Although this program is tailored for beginner hand sewers and embroiderers, the program is open to and welcomes all skills and abilities.

A beginner-friendly fashion workshop where you’ll design and create your very own shawl or tote bag
The chance to view reproductions from the WisHistory clothing collection, including pieces not usually on display
Food and beverages during a mid-afternoon snack break

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Although intended for beginners, the program is open to all skill levels and abilities, from newcomers to those more knowledgeable of sewing and embroidery.
Guests ages 13–17 will need to attend with a parent or guardian.
Although the program runs until 4:30 PM, participants do not have to stay the entire time. If makers finish work on their piece before the program ends, they are free to leave early.
WisHistory will provide all project materials, including needles, fabric, thread, beads and more. Participants bring the creativity!
Attendees will be able to view a limited number of reproductions of clothing pieces from the WisHistory collections, as well as newly designed clothing created for the Inspired! Historic Fashions and The Emerging Designers They Influenced event.
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀
Visitor parking is not available onsite at the U. S. Bank Plaza building. Program participants should plan to utilize public parking options.
Public parking is available within two blocks of the U.S. Bank Plaza building through meters and garages. The nearest parking garage is the Capitol Square North Garage, located at 218 E. Mifflin Street, and approximately a 5-minute walk from the U.S. Bank Plaza building.

When entering the U.S. Bank building, please enter the building through the central South Pinckney Street entrance.
Upon entry to the building, participants are to check in with a WHS staff member to confirm their event registration.
