Walk over burning embers for local women and girls impacted by sexual violence and abuse.
About this Event

Join our sponsored firewalk to raise vital funds to support our vital emotional, therapeutic and advocacy support services for local women and girls impacted by sexual violence and abuse.

This year we want to acknowledge the inspiration women in our lives whilst we walk – either with their name or with photo on our t-shirts, or maybe by dressing up as them. At CRCC, the survivors we work alongside inspire us every day, as do our mothers, grandmothers, friends and those women around the world who have fought for equality, equity and freedom throughout the generations.

For more than 40 years, CRCC has been committed to ensuring no woman or girl subjected to sexual violence has to cope alone. Your support will help us to keep delivering our life-changing, life-saving services in the face of significant increases in need and demand, ensuring we will be here for survivors now, and in the future.

How does it work?

You will walk barefoot across 20ft of burning embers to raise vital funds to support our work with local survivors of sexual violence.

Our firewalk is run by the extremely experienced team at Blaze - they are firewalking experts and this is the fifth firewalk they have run for us, all of which were fabulous fundraising events.

Thanks to the wonderful people at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, this year the firewalk will be held at The Cass Centre in Cambridge, providing a beautiful and inspirational venue to transform your fears into action, increase your self-confidence and raise much needed funds for local survivors.

No previous experience or minimum fitness is required and you will receive comprehensive training before the walk and then the firewalk begins.

We also welcome the friends and families of participants to come and cheer them on! The Cass Centre will be open as usual, so supporters are very welcome to make use of the bar area (no alcohol for participants until after though!) before watching the walk.

You can find out more about what happens at the firewalk on our website.

If you have any queries or questions, please contact [email protected] so we can help.

Who can take part?

Anyone 14 years of age and over can take part, with under 18 years requiring parental/guardian consent to take part and to fundraise.

If you have a disability or medical condition, especially one that impacts your walking, please contact CRCC at [email protected] before booking so we can discuss how to accommodate you.

How do I join?

Registration is £20 and we ask you do you best to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100 for your challenge.

Everyone gets a cotton CRCC t-shirt and a certificate of completion, so make sure you don't forget to tell us what size you'd like when registering.

Once you've registered, go to our JustGiving page to set up your fundraising page - just click on 'Start fundraising'.

Any questions?

If you have any questions about the event, please get in touch with the fundraising team by emailing [email protected].

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THIS EVENT - DISCLAIMER

As you would expect, firewalking is potentially dangerous. Participants are advised that there is an inherent risk in firewalking and if you voluntarily choose to firewalk with CRCC, there is a small possibility that you may receive injuries requiring medical attention. Our firewalk is organised and run by firewalking experts Blaze, who have organised firewalks for many years and their team is extremely experienced. Even though our event is prepared with the greatest expertise and due diligence by Blaze and all of the potential risks are minimised by them, to remove all risk is virtually impossible. Blaze fully insure and risk assess everything relating to this firewalk. All participants must refrain from drinking alcohol and taking any non-prescription drugs prior to the event. This is of paramount importance to the safety of the event. Blaze reserves the rights to refuse any participant they feel are unfit to take part safely.
