AMBS will be joined by the FRC Lab & the ACCA to discuss their current work, future projects, & how students & researchers can contribute.
About this Event

At this interactive, in-person event, we will be joined by the Financial Reporting Council Lab (FRC Lab) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), who will discuss their current work, future projects and how students and researchers can contribute to these.

There will be a Q&A session offering an opportunity to learn more about the organisations, the work they do as well as how their work contributes to the accounting and auditing profession.

By attending this event you will:

  • Discover emerging issues in the field of accounting and auditing, and how the regulatory and professional bodies are responding to them;
  • Find out more about the work and impact of the FRC, the FRC Lab and ACCA; and
  • Network with members of the organisations and your peers.

The FRC

The FRC regulates auditors, accountants and actuaries, and sets the UK’s Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes. It promotes transparency and integrity in business. The FRC’s work is aimed at investors and others who rely on company reports, audit and high-quality risk management.

The FRC regularly commissions external research from universities, research institutes, and research consultants. Research enables the FRC to: understand their impact; improve operational effectiveness and efficiency; and develop future strategy. Their extensive research programme complements and informs the FRC’s regular and extensive consultations on proposed changes to codes & standards, implementation plans, and the work of the expert Committees that advise the FRC Board.

The FRC Lab

Launched in October 2011, the FRC Lab’s aim is to help improve the effectiveness of corporate reporting.

The Lab has worked with over 130 different companies and 110 investment organisations to bring insight and understanding to several key areas of disclosure. The Lab has a long history of engaging in emerging topics in reporting, such as Virtual reality/Augmented reality, ESG and financial reporting. It’s current areas of focus include digital, technology and sustainability reporting issues.

ACCA Global

ACCA believes that accountancy is vital for economies to grow and prosper, which is why it works all over the world to build the profession and make society fairer and more transparent.

It has more than 241,000 fully qualified members and 542,000 future members worldwide. They are among the world’s best-qualified and most highly sought-after accountants - and they work in every sector you can imagine.

“Organisations know and trust our designation. We're out there every day, connecting with businesses large and small, governments, educational establishments and opinion formers. We're on top of emerging trends, legislation and legal requirements, helping to shape them.”

--- ACCA

Because of all this, ACCA can create the innovative, strategic-thinking accountants that a fast-changing world needs.
