Insiders tour of "The Merf"!What's a Merf, you say?
The MRF, or Materials Recovery Facility, is where all of your curbside recyclables go to be sorted using manual and automated processes, and sent on to markets (or contamination sent to the landfill). Come join us and DSWA for an insiders tour of the facility. It is eye opening!
(Unexpected shutdowns of the facility due to mechanical issues/maintenance may occur at the time of visit).
Please be aware of the following:
The MRF tour includes a lot of walking and stairs.
Conditions inside the are loud and dusty.
Those with a pacemaker will not be permitted inside for safety of the visitor.
If the daily temperature exceeds 90 tours will be rescheduled.
Tour Guidelines:
Must be 18 years or older.
Must wear closed toe, sturdy shoes.
Must wear long pants and clothes that can get dirty.
Must wear safety gear including a high visibility vest, hard hat and safety glasses (all provided).
No photography inside the MRF.
Must sign a waiver prior to touring.
*Failure to comply with the above guidelines will result in denied entry into the facility.
