Inside the Healing Room: Black Men and Their Therapists in Conversation
About this Event
What does it look like when a Black man feels safe enough to speak honestly with the person helping him heal?
Inside the Healing Room offers a rare look into the therapeutic relationships supporting Black men’s mental and emotional wellness. Black men will sit alongside their therapists and share honest reflections on beginning therapy, building trust, confronting difficult emotions and learning healthier ways to navigate life.
Mental health professionals will also discuss the current state of Black men’s mental health, including the barriers that often prevent Black men from seeking support and what communities can do to make healing more accessible.
Unlike a traditional panel, this event is centered on the relationship between the client and therapist. Guests will hear both perspectives: what Black men experience in the healing process and what therapists learn by supporting them.
Attendees can expect:
- Real conversations between Black men and their therapists
- Honest reflections on fear, trust, vulnerability and growth
- Insight into what happens before, during and beyond therapy
- Perspectives from therapists serving Black men
- Practical guidance for finding support and beginning the healing journey
- A thoughtful community conversation and live Q&A
This event is for Black men, loved ones, community leaders and anyone committed to creating healthier spaces for Black men to heal.
Not therapy performed onstage. Real stories about what becomes possible when Black men are supported.
