Inside the Etruscan Tomb: The Hypogeum of the Volumni Virtual Walking Tour

Travel back in time at the III century B.C. and explore the hypogeum of Volumni, the oldest and most preserved funerary monument of the Etruscan era.
The tomb, located 7 kilometers to the southwest of Perugia, is part of the vast necropolis, called “Palazzone” a necropolis with more than 200 tombs of which only a part can be visited.

Thanks to our guide Patrizia, expert archaeologist and art historian, we will visit the antiquarium and the underground funerary chamber that re-proposes the architectural structure of a Roman house with a central atrium and several rooms. The most important of these is the tablinum or reception room where we will admire six large cinerary urns made of travertine and one marble sarcophagus.
