Curious about meditation? Have a dedicated practice? Perhaps you've tried and convinced yourself that meditation just isn’t for you? Even better - really! Inside Out is bound to change your mind. This fun and unique approach to meditation is an integrative blend of Chinese Do-In, SomaYoga and Kundalini elements, intended to release stored tension, optimize the meditative experience, and hone interoception: how we perceive our own bodies from the inside out.
Intended for all levels with built-in variations (all props provided in-studio), this workshop comprises gentle movement - free from stretching or strain - and promotes self-regulation, with Erin's candid teaching style guiding the way.
Come prepared to:
- Tap (quite literally) into Chinese meridians to restore vital Chi while balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
- Indulge in a relaxing practice of SomaYoga asana through pandiculation (the conscious contraction and conscious release of muscles), reinvigorating the flow of prana.
- Discover how to physically locate the third-eye and experience the primordial vibration of OM with its calming effect on the vagus nerve.
- Improve cognitive function and mood by way of the Kirtan Kriya, one of the most well-researched meditation practices, shown to reduce signs of dementia.
A few words from your instructor, Erin Brennan, CYT-500:
As someone who maintains an active mind, body and lifestyle, meditation has become a mainstay in my daily practice, though I was more than reluctant to start some 10 years ago. I remember a time when words like mindfulness sounded more like "mind full of stress". I couldn’t grasp seeking stillness, let alone intentionally focusing on virtually nothing for any period of time.
Thankfully, yoga found me and I finally found myself through yoga. I consider the practice of yoga to be a great privilege that is both accessible to all and indispensable for me personally. I like to take the mystery out of it so that students can find themselves within the teachings and create a practice all their own.
My Shiatsu-Shin Tai training in 1997 and subsequent BA in Social Sciences continue to ground and inform my ongoing yogic studies. I have since accumulated training and certifications in SomaYoga (CYT-500), Reiki, Yoga Calm and Somatic Emotional Clearing. I am devoted to my ever-evolving practice and love sharing what I continue to discover.
