About this Event
Featured Artist – Live Interview After Their Performance
Anton May (He/They) is a British-born multidisciplinary artist based in Tiohtiá:ke (colonially known as Montreal). They are an honours graduate of Dawson College's Professional Theatre Program and an alum/mentor of the BTW Artist Mentorship Program. He has had the privilege of performing across Canada and in New York as a singer and actor. Most recently, their play A Boy's Love: A Journey of Healing through Poetry and Dance was presented through the Queer Reading Series (2025). He is also a proud member of the Montreal Kiki Ballroom scene (Broadway 007), known for walking Commentator vs Commentator and Vogue Femme. These days, you can catch them MCing events across Montreal. When he’s not acting, he’s voguing or performing in concerts and cabarets—singing or moving audiences with his poetry.
As a playwright, Anton’s work focuses on uplifting Black queer voices. His writing navigates the Black and queer experience, bringing light to the struggles and injustices these communities face. He approaches these themes through poetry and spoken word, drawing inspiration from lived experience and the resilience of those around him.
Catch Anton May’s performance, then stay for our live onstage interview and your chance to ask questions—before we open the mic to you! 🎤✨
What makes our night different? 🤔💫
We don’t just feature artists—we interview them live on stage, then open the floor for your questions. 🎙️🗣️ It’s a rare chance to truly connect with the voices that move us. ❤️
Open Mic 🎤
Our open mic series was created in honour of Paul "Bad News Brown" Frappier, and every event carries the mandate to celebrate our artists—today and always. 🙌🏿✨ This month, in the spirit of Father’s Day, we invite you to share words of gratitude, stories, and tributes to the fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, and father figures who have shaped us. 👨🏾🦱💪🏿💛
Please note: Open mic participants must sign up online in advance. 💻✅ www.linktr.ee/madpoetix
We look forward to celebrating fatherhood, music, and YOU! 🥳👨🏿🤝👨🏾🎶🌸
