This year’s Innovative Technology Dinner hosted by the Research and Innovation Committee of the Illinois Water Environment Association features Gross-Wen Technologies (GWT), an innovative wastewater treatment solution that removes nutrients, reduces carbon footprint, and generates a value stream. GWT has been perfecting its revolving algal biofilm technology since 2014 and ran a multi-year pilot at the O’Brien WRP. The company is now preparing to start another pilot at Stickney WRP, focused on removing ammonia from the plant’s centrate. Dr. Martin Gross, the company founder, will speak in person about the upcoming pilot and other achievements of his growing team. His presentation is titled “Utilizing the revolving algal biofilm system to simultaneously recover nutrients, lower GHG emissions, and reduce energy use at WWTP’s”.

The event will be held on Thursday, October 6, at Rivers Restaurant (30 South Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60606) located in scenic downtown by the Chicago River and close to Metra and CTA.

Visit to purchase a ticket for the event. Please do not register through Eventbrite here. The cost of the event for IWEA members is $85, and for non-members $120. Non-members may use discount code "CURRENT" to get the member rate. Any amount left over after covering the event expenses will go towards the student scholarship fund.
