About this Event
The Greater Manchester Innovation Literacy Programme is an engaging, hands-on training course designed for apprentices who want to turn their ideas into action.
You'll gain Digital Badges for your CV and be certificate as an Apprentice Innovation Ambassador at an award ceremony in March 2026.
Over eight immersive session you'll explore the entire journey of innovation—from idea generation to testing, communication, and building a culture where innovation thrives, enabling you to return to your business to improve productivity and create value
You'll grow in confidence and communication skills, and gain experince that supports achievement on your apprenticeship programme. Whatever the subject, it could count towards your Off The Job hours and help you with your final project work for your employer and your apprenticeship programme.

This programme is perfect for Greater Manchester Apprentices seeking to:

- Improve their problem-solving and critical thinking
- Become confident communicators of new ideas
- Work creatively—no matter their background or sector
Who is behind it?
This programme has been developed by Greater Manchester Colleges, co-authored with Ben Edmonds (Innovation Ben), a product designer and inventor with 20 years of experience working with companies like Dyson.
It's funded by Innovate UK and introduces all key elements of the national Innovation, Commercialisation & Entrepreneurship skills framework.

Day One

Module 1 - Foundations of Innovation
Info: This is where the excitement starts! In the the first module we're inspired by creativity of others, and understand how to get creative ourselves! The morning starts with welcome refreshments from 9, but we get stuck in from 9.30!

Module 2- Prototyping and Problem Solving
Info: After lunch it's a hands on creative session - You'll be given a brief, some materials and will make a prototype product. it's a collaborative effort and you'll get to try it out in front of the group, gaining valuable insights in to design and testing prototypes.

Module 3 - Communication and Culture of Innovation
Info: After the welcome breakfast from 9, we'll kick off at 9.30 with a session on communicating your ideas and how you can help your workplace become an environment where ideas are born and innovation thrives.

Module 4 - Strategic Thinking and Proposal Development
