About this Event
Craftsperson Ruby “Resourceress” Colette will teach you to create imaginative body works from embellished inner tubes. The bicycle inner tubes are used to create belts, cuffs, chokers, and ankle cuffs. Participants can string the tube valves onto a slender tube for punk cuffs and chokers or use snaps, grommets, and scrapbooking brads to make cuffs and chokers.
Samples, tools, decorative materials and inner tubes are provided. Ruby does not use glue, paint, or anything that might make it difficult to take home a finished piece. Bring your creativity!
Ruby Resourceress lives in Eugene Oregon and travels around the country hosting maker events. Ruby has been making junk into art since she was tall enough to peer over the edge of the trash bin. Her uncanny ability to see creative potential in discarded items has led to a lifetime of...clutter. Ruby’s daughter said to her once, “I can’t tell what’s trash and what’s art supplies.”
“That’s the point,“ replied Ruby. She believes that if we can see the beauty in trash, we may stop seeing other people as disposable.
