INMO Wound care management

This programme enhances professional competency in the area of wound care management as per the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (2014) and Scope of Practice for Nursing and Midwifery (2015) developed by NMBI, which states that nurses and midwives must work within their competence. An overview will be provided on the physiology of acute and chronic wounds as well as differences in their treatment. Participants will be advised on how to conduct a holistic assessment of a patient with a wound and implement a care plan. Topics that will be covered include: wound healing, wound bed preparation and treatment options, as well as a practical workshop on dressing selection. Furthermore, it will provide participants with continued professional development to ensure that their best practice is founded in the latest research and guidance as per the Health Service Executive National best practice and evidence-based guidelines for wound management.
