Balandžio 4 d. 18 val. Užupio Meno Inkubatoriaus galerijos duris atvers tarpdisciplininio meno kūrėjos, Užupio Meno Inkubatoriaus rezidentės Sophie Durand (Australija) paroda „inlet : įvadas“, kviesianti žiūrovą įsilieti į erdvę, tapusią vidinio vandenyno įlanka.
Piranezis dienoraščiuose pasakoja apie išgyvenimus, patirtus namuose, kuriuose susilieja architektūra ir jūra (Susanna Clarke, 2020). Geografiškai, žodis inlet apibūdina nedidelę jūros, ežero ar upės įlanką ar įplaukimo vietą. Menininkė Indrė Lišauskaitė nagrinėja, kaip žodis inlet, verčiamas iš anglų kalbos, transformuojasi į gramatinį terminą „įvadas“, nurodantį teksto pradžią, vedančią į jo turinį.
Galerijos erdves į vandenyno įlanką transformuojanti paroda „inlet : įvadas“ yra daugialypė: joje tarpusavyje ir su žiūrovu sąveikauja organiškos menininkės Sophie Durand instaliacijos. Čia jos tampa scena menininkės draugų organizuojamiems renginiams ir vieta, kviečiančia į pažintį su Australijos televizijos istorijos fragmentais.
Sophie Durand – menininkė iš Boorloo/Perth, Vakarų Australijos, šiuo metu gyvenanti ir kurianti Vilniuje. Kūrėjos tarpdisciplininėje praktikoje susijungia skulptūros ir performanso menas, o pagrindiniais kūrinių motyvais tampa anekdotinės istorijos ir kraštovaizdžio archyvai. Menininkės dabartinė veikla apima metodų, kaip savo kūrinius integruoti į skirtingas erdves, paieškas, siekiant empatiškiau koegzistuoti su ekologinėmis sistemomis. Nuo 2023 m. Sophie Durand reziduoja ir kuria Užupio Meno Inkubatoriuje
Paroda eksponuojama iki gegužės 7 d.

Kolektyvinis 4,6 km. žygis Vilnelės pakrante, siekiant surinkti vandens mėginius Raitelių tilto apylinkėse esančiose ekosferose. Užsiėmimui reikia atsinešti savo stiklainį. Pasivaikščiojimo pradžia - UMI galerija (Užupio g. 2A).

Judantys po ekspozicijos erdves it plastiškos srovės vandenynuose, septyni Virginia Woolf 1931 m. romano „Bangos“ pasakojimo balsai susijungs romaną kolektyviai skaitant garsiai nuo pradžios iki pabaigos.

„Landing“ įžanginis numeris kviečia paslysti, suklupti, patirti nesėkmę ir dar geriau tai išgyventi kartu, įsitraukiant į gyvybės formų ekologiją (praktikoje) ir platesnį tikrovės suvokimą (rašyme ir skaityme). Svarbiausia, kad „Landing“ yra apie veikimą. Neseniai „Landing“ buvo išleistas į pasaulį kaip atviras kvietimas į nežinomus įvykius, išbandant tam tikrą metodą. Šis vakaras - tai kvietimas drauge garsiai skaityti ir stebėti, kokie pokalbiai iš to gali gimti.

„Prospero medinis kompiuteris“ tyrinėja magijos, technologijų ir istorijos sankirtą, konceptualiai rekonstruodamas John Dee, XVI a. karalienės Elžbietos I dvaro mago, naudotą paslaptingą prietaisą. Ši performatyvi paskaita kviečia klausytojus permąstyti, kaip kuriamos žinios ir kaip nematomos jėgos - mistinės ar technologinės - toliau formuoja dabartį.

Pip Lewi - kūrėja ir atsitiktinė vojeristė, gyvenanti Boorloo ( Perthas, Vakarų Australija), Whadjuk Noongar boodjar teritorijoje. Pip ieško žaismingų kasdienio kraštovaizdžio trikdžių ir naudojant nešiojamas medžiagas ir procesus dokumentuoja kasdienius efemeriškus reiškinius. Pip praktikoje svarstoma, kaip šiuolaikinėje Australijoje permąstyti flâneur; tyrinėjami pasakojimai ir švelniai pašiepiami vizualiniai kalambūrai.
🌿 Eksperimentinė gėlių kompozicija
Balandžio 26 d. 14:00 - 15:30, veda Ditiya Ferdous
Eksperimentinių puokščių iš atliekų dirbtuvės, kuriose bus naudojamos užsiėmimo metu Užupyje surinktos medžiagos: sezoniniai augalai, negyvosios medžiagos ir šiukšlės. Atsižvelgdami į linijos, formos ir spalvos principus, ikebanos gėlių komponavimo pagrindus, transformuosime ,,nepaklusnius“ augalus ir problematiškas medžiagas į skulptūrines kompozicijas.

„Why Cut When You Can Fade“ - dinamiška meninių tyrimų praktika, atliekama bendradarbiaujant. Tai nuoseklus dialogas tarp poezijos, kino, choreografijos, judesio tyrimų ir mokslo sričių, naudojamas patyriminiams metodams kurti. Praktiką inicijavo Miklós (Miki) Ambrózy, Greta Grinevičiutė ir Miglė Križinauskaitė.

Gegužės 2 d., 16:00 – 19:00 val.
Minint Sophie Durand kūrinio „The Tempest / The Rehearsal“ (2015) dešimtmetį, 10 naujų aktorių bus pakviesti repetuoti ir kurti Viljamo Šekspyro „Audros“ III veiksmo pirmos scenos ir IV veiksmo spektaklį. Spektaklis niekada nebus vaidinamas - pačios repeticijos naratyvas taps stebimu turiniu.

On the 4th of April at 6 pm. “Inlet : įvadas”, an exhibition by interdisciplinary artist and Užupis Art Incubator resident Sophie Durand (Australia) will open the doors of the Užupis Art Incubator Gallery, inviting the visitor to enter a space that has become an inlet of an inland ocean.
Piranesi’s journals share experiences from within a house where architecture and sea are muddled (Susanna Clarke, 2020). Geographically: an inlet is a small arm of a sea, a lake or a river or an inlet is a place or means of entry. Indrė describes how the translation of inlet to ‘įvadas’ in Lithuanian creates reference to a grammatical term; ‘įvadas’ when translated back to English refers to an introduction to a text.
"inlet : įvadas" invites audiences into a space that is an inlet of an inland ocean, it is a multipart exhibition that includes installations assembled by artist Sophie Durand. These installations create a scenography for a series of events hosted by friends of the artist as well as a space to engage with fragments of Australian television history.
Sophie Durand is an artist from Boorloo/Perth, Western Australia based in Vilnius. Sophie's multi-disciplinary practice extends from the intersection of sculpture and performance art and draws from anecdotal histories and archives of landscape for subject matter. Currently she is looking at strategies to reposition her artworks within environmental settings and to work more empathetically with ecological systems. Since 2023, Sophie has been a resident at Užupis Art Incubator.
The exhibition is on show until the 7th of May.
During the exhibition, the visitors are also invited to join in the happenings that will take place in the UMI Gallery space and various Užupis areas:

🌿 Reading Aloud: ‘The Waves’ by Virginia Woolf

Oscillating throughout the gallery spaces in the same way as currents move through oceans the seven narrative voices of Virginia Woolf ’s 1931 novel ‘The Waves’ are activated as the novel is collectively read aloud from start to finish.
🌿 LANDING Reading Group - A collective reading of selected articles
16th April 18:30 - 20:00 with Sophie Durand and Miki Ambrózy
Landing's opening issue is an invitation to slip, falter, fail, and fail better for a readership of humans entangled with the larger ecology of life forms (in our practices) and larger realities (in our writing and reading). Most importantly, Landing is about ways of doing. Recently Landing was released into the world as a generous invitation to leap into unknown events, through attempting a method. This evening is an invitation to read together and see aloud, read it generously, read it constructively and see what conversations may open.

Prospero’s Wooden Computer explores the intersection of magic, technology, and history through a conceptual reconstruction of an arcane device used by John Dee, the 16th-century court magician to Queen Elizabeth I. This performative lecture invites the audience to reconsider how knowledge is constructed and how unseen forces—whether mystical or technological—continue to shape the present.
🌿An Evening
24th April, 18:30 - 20:00 with Pip Lewi
Pip Lewi is an artist and casual voyeur based in Boorloo (Perth, Western Australia) on unceded Whadjuk Noongar boodjar. They seek playful disruptions in the mundane landscape, using portable materials and processes to document everyday ephemera. Their practice considers reframing the flâneur in contemporary Australiana; exploring curious narratives and smirking at visual puns.
🌿 Experimental Floral Arrangement
26th April 14:00 - 15:30 with Ditiya Ferdous
Forage local materials for experimental waste matter bouquets. We will walk around the Užupis neighborhood gathering seasonal plant life, dead matter, and trash. Considering the principles of line, form, and color, the fundamentals of ikebana floral arrangement, we will transform "unruly" plants and problematic matter into sculptural arrangements.

Why Cut When You Can Fade is a fluid artistic research practice. We explore agency through active collaboration. It is a sustained dialogue between the ways of being of poetics, cinema, choreography, movement research and scientific fields, used to develop experiential methods. Embracing a knot of not-knowing. The practice was initiated by Miklós (Miki) Ambrózy, Greta Grinevičiutė, and Migle Križinauskaitė.

On the tenth anniversary of Sophie Durand’s workThe Tempest / The Rehearsal (2015), 10 new actors will be invited to rehearse and devise a performance of Act III Scene One and Act IV of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. A performance never to be performed; instead the narrative of a rehearsal becomes content to be observed.
