INKCANTATIONS
About this Event
INKCANTATIONS
On 31 October 2026, as daylight fades and darkness approaches, The Beacon will transform into INKCANTATIONS.
Following on the heels of a delicious day amongst the artists, makers and curious wares of The Other’s Market, the space shifts into something altogether stranger. Darker. Magical.
INKCANTATIONS is an immersive Samhain gathering created in collaboration with witches and magical practitioners, tattooists, artists, performers and makers. Less a conventional Halloween event, more an invitation to step across the threshold into the Otherworld for a night.
Some encounters will be part of the programme. Others you might simply stumble upon.
Wander through The Beacon’s unique spaces and discover live tattooing, music, art and performance, alongside a full programme of hands-on workshops inviting you to experience different occult and creative practices, make things, learn things and explore the shadows.
In the main space, performers will fill the air with music, ghost stories, dance and performance art, while strange characters and unexpected encounters weave their way through the building. There will be things to watch, things to make, things to take part in, and perhaps a few things that are better left unexplained until you get there.
At the heart of it all is Samhain, the pagan turning point into the darker half of the year. A time of endings and beginnings, remembrance and transformation and, traditionally, a night when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld grows thin.
Ritual and magical workings will be woven throughout the night, culminating in a full pagan Samhain ritual to honour the dead, mark the turning of the year and, perhaps, work a little magic together.
Participation is encouraged, but always optional. You are equally welcome to witness, wander, create, watch, get tattooed, meet people, or simply lose yourself, or perhaps find yourself, in the atmosphere.
There are only about 100 places available, so grab your ticket early.
Come curious. Bring your magic. Dress for the occasion, if the spirit takes you.
As The Other’s Market closes and darkness falls, the energy changes, the rituals begin, and INKCANTATIONS takes over.

Marks Between Worlds: Sigil Magic for Samhain - Main Hall
Host: Grace Mary Howarth
Info: In this immersive 60-minute workshop, participants will explore the history, symbolism and magical practice of sigil-making, discovering how personal intention can be transformed into powerful visual symbols. Drawing upon the traditions and themes of Samhain, we'll consider the significance of protection, remembrance, transformation and the cycles of death and rebirth. Through guided reflection and practical experimentation, participants will learn techniques of sigil construction before creating their own personal magical mark, inspired by the thresholds they are crossing and the intentions they wish to carry into the darker half of the year.
The workshop concludes with a collective ritual to acknowledge & empower the symbols created. Blending historical occult practice, contemporary magical approaches and artistic expression, this workshop offers an opportunity to engage with sigil magic as both a creative and transformative act. No previous experience required.

Becoming the Witch: A Gathering - The Back Lawn
Host: Antonia Pandazedes
Info: So you think you want to be a Witch…. Or you think you are one but you’re not sure…. Maybe you've had an experience you can't explain or are seeking guidance on something supernatural... Maybe you’re scared of what that means or you’re not comfortable to ask the questions in a large class of people who already seem to know what they're doing. This Samhain, we'll unlock the gates to talk about it all. You're invited into the world of the Witch for an open, frank Q&A about all things light and dark, magical and spooky. We'll talk about what it actually means to be a magical practitioner and follow this path, how you can get started or further your own practice, pitfalls to avoid, and how to deal with that pesky spirit who keeps showing up in your dreams. This session is a safe forum for everyone: the beginning practitioners, the curious, the seasoned, and anyone who has questions or wants to learn more. Come with your questions and stories. It's a Witch's round table! All welcome.
