Ink n' Intuition: Alcohol Ink and Meditation Workshop

Come and create from a place of intuition and flow. Alcohol inks will flow freely when your creativity is opened through guided meditation. From this intuitive space, you will create an abstract alcohol ink piece that will represent a personal affirmation. You will learn basic alcohol ink techniques to create your one-of-a-kind piece. Get ready to gain creative confidence through this 2-hour workshop.

All supplies including ink, art surface, paint brushes, and other creative tools are provided! Bring a paint shirt or apron to protect your clothes!

Workshops are recommended for people ages 15 and over. Children under 15 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $10 - $15 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Calgarian artist Kristen Powell is known for her vibrant alcohol ink pieces that incorporate sound waves from music, quotes and more. She has been making art all her life. Her sound wave style started in university during a silk-screen printmaking class. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. She is currently completing her Masters of Psychotherapy and Art Therapy. She works as a high school art and yoga teacher and creates art on evenings and weekends. Her pieces resonate with viewers because of our shared experience with music and sound. Kristen aims to make emotional experiences tangible and relatable. She enjoys experimenting with new mediums and seeking to create images that resonate with others.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
